Oops! Japan #40 — Not Just Rain. It’s War.

Why Visiting Japan During the Rainy Season Requires Serious Preparation

English:

So, you packed a cute umbrella for your summer trip to Japan?

Nice try — but that won’t save you from guerrilla downpours.

Japan’s rainy season (June–July) isn’t just about light showers.

We’re talking flash floods, sideways rain, soaked shoes in 30 seconds.

Even locals struggle to deal with the sheer force of it.

A single downpour can drench your socks, fog up your glasses, and ruin your day — all before you’ve reached the train station.

Tips for Survival:

Pack a lightweight raincoat (umbrellas alone won’t cut it).

Bring extra socks and quick-dry shoes.

Download a weather radar app (like Yahoo! Weather in Japan).

Avoid long outdoor walks without shelter options.

Traveling in Japan during the rainy season is doable —

but only with proper gear and a strong sense of humor.
